Dear Colleague:
I hope you will join me for an important event that concerns all of
us in Oregon. As you know, the Hanford nuclear reservation is the most
significant environmental threat facing our region's businesses, commerce,
and way of life. In the last decade, more attention has been brought
to bear on cleaning up Hanford, yet no clear solution has emerged.
In the 106th Congress I joined with several of my Northwest Congressional
colleagues to secure more clean-up dollars for Hanford. I want to continue
those efforts in the 107th Congress, and further the education and outreach
about Hanford to the people who matter most--the citizens of the Northwest.
Here in Oregon, that process begins with you--the stakeholders, community
and business leaders, and citizens who have the most at stake when it
comes to Hanford.
Please join me on Tuesday, November 28, 2000, for a Hanford Forum.
We will hear from several of Oregon's experts who will address the past,
present and future of Hanford health. I hope you will take this opportunity
to provide me with your feedback about clean-up priorities for the Hanford
nuclear reservation.
